Fresh floral can elevate any space in an instant by adding sophistication, warmth, intention, and beauty. You can always find beautiful arrangements in our homes year round. No, we are not spending lots of money buying our arrangements from a florist. Instead we find our fresh flowers at the grocery store! Our floral is sourced right next to the lemons and celery and then arranged by us! Grocery store floral departments usually carry the floral staples in the right seasonal colors - hydrangeas, daisies, mums, carnations, and a variety of roses (we love spray roses if you can find them!) all at an obtainable price! We're loving all the dusty Fall colors this season especially pinks, oranges, and blues.
The key to sprucing up your grocery floral, is rearranging it. All floral ends should be given a fresh stem cut, arranged in a vase, and then enjoyed! NEVER take the bouquet and stick it in a vase and call it good. Below you will find quick and easy steps we follow to create stunning arrangements with the floral the grocer always has in stock!
Easy Floral Arranging To Impress Every Time
Choose the vase you want to use! (We love using pitchers, stone crocks, and bowls)
Add your base greenery to your vase.
3. Choose your base flower and add to your greenery. Trim the flowers as you add them to add the overall shape and size for your arrangement.
4. Add in your floral that compliments the base floral. Adding these in clusters and a little more height adds more depth to your arrangement. Cluster in odd numbers 3, 5, 7, etc.
5. Fill in empty or bare spots with more greenery to add greater depth and height.
6. Enjoy your very own custom floral arrangement!
Tips:
- We usually trim everything to fit in the vase and put it in a separate vase. It is easier to work when you know all your stems have been cut for the size of the vase, and you can see the color combos together.
- Also, we love using floral foam, but not everyone has that on hand. When you can, we suggest floral foam which will keep floral in place and stay hydrated longer giving a longer life to your floral.
- When clustering arrangements, a simple understated arrangement is acceptable. A simple hydrangea with a little greenery is the perfect understated, but beautiful arrangement.
- Add in dried floral, berries, wheat, or even small twigs to give your arrangement an even more seasonal look!
