Autumn's Acorns

Updated: Sep 30, 2020

We live on a street lined with trees. It is one of our favorite aspects of our homes especially in the autumn when the leaves’ colors begin to change to gold and scarlet. Fall also brings the acorns to our charming, picturesque street. Acorns. EVERYWHERE. Big and small. We love picking these and turning such simple, overlooked things into a beautiful fall decor staple in our homes! With a little cleaning and baking they create a classic, vintage look that is still on trend. The best part is, you can scent these ourselves to mix in perfectly with your home's aesthetics.

Scented Acorns

1 gallon size bag of Acorns

Essential oils in your preferred scents (we recommend orange, clove, and cinnamon)

  1. Rinse acorns in the sink. Pat dry with a towel.

  2. Bake acorns on a cooking sheet for 30 minutes at 200 degrees. Remove and let cool for 10 minutes (acorns may still be warm).

  3. Place acorns in a plastic storage bag, add a few drops of essential oils to your liking. Close bag and shake vigorously covering all the acorns.

  4. Keep the acorns air tight for about 2-3 days. The scent should be absorbed at this point.

  5. Decorate with your scented acorns.
