Ring in the new year with our classic black eyes peas recipe everyone will enjoy!
Ingredients
2 cups of Black Eyed Peas
2 garlic cloves, minced
1/2 cup of cooked ham pieces
1/2 cup of chopped mushrooms
1 cup of broth (vegetable, chicken, beef)
Parsley
Instructions
If using dry black eyed peas, soak peas in salt water for a few hours prior to cooking.
Sauté garlic in large pot. Add in mushrooms and ham. Cook for 3 mins.
Pour in broth and add black eyed peas. Salt and pepper to taste. Bring to a boil for 1 minute stirring constantly. Reduce heat and simmer for 45 minutes.
Add fresh chopped parsley to your liking and garnish. Enjoy!
Tips
1. Leave out the ham and use vegetable broth to make these vegetarian.
